If a coach teaches players the need to see the ball well first, before presenting the mechanics of the swing, hitters will realize the importance of working from soft center (Figure 6-1) to hard center (Figure 6-2).

A consistent loss of balance will cause hitters to develop a number of bad habits, which will eventually eat away at their technique. Hitters have to learn to swing at the pitches that will allow them to stay aggressive, but at the same time, allow them to maintain their balance throughout their entire swing.
