Those who participate in such sessions have expectations of the practitioners offering these services, and need to have some kind of safeguard. 62 A GUIDE TO PSYCHOLOGICAL DEBRIEFING One of the main legal issues involves privileged communication and confidentiality.
Those who cannot attend because they are too ill, or for other personal reasons, need to be carefully monitored without that monitoring becoming intrusive, counterproductive or offensive. What time has to be set aside for the debriefing? An average time for a debriefing session is thought to be around three and a half hours. It may be that a session can be wrapped up quickly in a little over one hour. That does not necessarily make it a bad debriefing.
